Tom S. Neuman is a world recognized authority on diving and hyperbaric medicine. He is a Professor of Clinical Medicine, University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine, Director of the Hyperbaric Medicine Center at UCSD Medical Center and Associate Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine at UCSD Medical Center.

He is Board recognized by the National Academy of Medical Examiners, American Board of Internal Medicine (Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease), American Board of Preventive Medicine (Occupational, Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine), and the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He has been the Editor-in-Chief, Undersea & Hyperbaric Medicine, (1995-2002) and has published a whole host of scientific papers and peer reviewed articles.
His undersea activities started in the US Navy, where his background included qualifications as a nuclear submarine and saturation diving medical officer. He has been accorded many national honors, including being the President of the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society, and appointment to the National Academy of Sciences. Tom is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both land and water activities.
